The Friends of the La Trobe Library wish to thank the Herald and Weekly Times for their generous sponsorship of this number of the journal promoting the newspaper collection of the State Library of Victoria.
From the time of its involvement with some of Melbourne's earliest newspapers — the Port Phillip Herald (1840), the Daily Telegrph — until the present the Herald and Weekly Times has played a central role in bringing the news to the people of Melbourne and Victoria.
